Super GT International Series Round
The Super GT International Series Round which was recently held at the Sepang F1 Circuit on the 22nd June 2008 is one of the most popular events after the Formula 1, here in Malaysia. This time around, like the last, did not disappoint as it brought an outstanding blend of race cars and GT Babes, both pumping up the adrenalin of the spectators.
The event saw a turn-out of more than 24,000 spectators, all there to witness the new GT-R machines racing for the first time in Sepang. A total of 5 GT-R from different racing teams such as Nismo Autech, Xanavi Nismo, Woodone Racing, Calsonic and Yellow Hat were present, fending off the challenge from other GT machines such as the Honda NSX GT and Toyota-Lexus SC430. The impressive performance of the Nissan GT-R were evident as two of them were successful in clinching the 1st and 2nd spot on the podium for the GT 500 class, followed by the NSX GT of the Takata Dome team, at an extended gap.
In the GT 300, the Cusco Dunlop Subaru Impreza managed to finish in 1st placing after fending off the fierce challenge from circuit rival Mola Leo Palace Z. The win by the Subaru team was just a mere lead of 0.4 seconds, making this the closest of finishes among the Super GT races for this year. Driven by experience veteran driver, T. Yamano and K. Sasaki, starting at pole position for the race meant that they've only need to maintain speed and accuracy in the corners while avoiding unnecessary mistakes.
