Toyo-D Malaysian Series
After an exciting Team Toyo Drift Asia Pacific Competition which was held recently, Toyo Tires has once again got the local motorsports scene rocking with their new Toyo-D Malaysian Series. This series was held on 25th of May 2008 near the vicinity of the Shah Alam Stadium Complex. More than 40 participants were seen vying for the honors of being the best of the best.
The event saw tremendous support from the fans, for even for the qualifying stage on Saturday, the venue was packed to the maximum. Fans and spectators alike weren't going to miss out on one of the latest forms of motorsport event to hit our Malaysian shore.
Organized by White Apple Event Management, the event received full support and sponsorships from various organizations such as Toyo Tires, Tom's Stickers, Torco Lubricant, and Drift.com.my together with a few government bodies. Participations from local drift teams such as Team Toyo Drift, Team Maxxis, Team Kumho, Team Bridgestone, Team Good Year Racing, Team Falken Ipoh, Team Feinto-D, Team Syabas, Team Underfive, Team Era Maju Johor Bahru, Ah Heng Banting and also some privateers teams were all there, providing the thrills and spills for the spectators viewing pleasure.
The high speed track layout proved to be unforgiving and this caused a couple of spills by some participants who lost control of their machines, and ended up hitting the barriers while some even crashed out heavily. Thanks to the quick response of the marshals and good coordination from the organizer, no serious injury was reported and the event managed to run smoothly.
Team Toyo Drift driver, Lim Zee King who drove a Nissan 180SX for this competition was declared the winner of the 'Tsuiso Battle'. In the finals between him and his team mate Lim Kim Wan who was also driving an 180SX, Zee manages to keep his composure and was able to put the hammer down in the final showdown, performing an immaculate drift angle, while Kim Wan was struggling to keep up. Third place for this round was clinched by Team Bridgestone driver, Ivan Lau, driving a Toyota Corolla AE86.
