Proton Putra

Proton launched the Putra model in 1997 as an alternative for the smaller Satria models. The targeted markets were young executives with interest in coupe cars. The Putra was inspired from Mitsubishi Mirage Asti and is powered by a 4G93P engine with 140hp. I would say that that’s definitely quite an impressive figure for a local car. Over the years, the Putra has become a popular choice for a project car because of its strengthened and lightweight body.

   We stumbled upon this red dragger while in Klang and it is owned by a young guy whose passion is no other than the rubber burning motorsports event… the DRAG! Being labeled as a super fast drag car, it is pretty obvious that extensive modification and upgrading work has been done. At present fitted in the engine bay is a 4G63T-EVO III engine, replacing the original 4G93P engine. In order to further enhance the performance, this engine has been further upgraded with a set of 86mm piston, HKS metal gasket, Crower hi-durability connecting rods, HKS valve springs and a pair of HKS 272 degree cam along with those adjustable cam pulleys for easy and more accurate cam setting. The engine has also gone through the port and polish and full balancing process.
