Mercedes Benz CLK 200 Kompressor - Not Following the Rule …
At the very beginning of the VIP styling scene, the selection of cars as the platform was actually one of the most important rule of the thumb. For those who are into this car culture in Japan, the car of choice would be those which are in the more luxurious car segment, such as the Toyota Aristo, Toyota Crown, Nissan President, etc. However, in America, where VIP styling is fast gaining popularity, European imports such as the Mercedes Benz are now quite a common platform. And as for Malaysians, the platform for this particular culture is even more varied, form the compact Myvi to the more luxurious SUV, such as the Toyota Harrier and Estima.
Anyway, what we have featured here is a rare species when it comes to a platform for VIP styling here in Malaysia, a Mercedes CLK 200 Compressor coupe whose owner is a young gentleman, by the name of Alan Tam (not the Hong Kong singer/actor, but still, just as dashing). Being a close personal friend of Marco, one of the owner of Diamond Zeus, it was only a matter of time before he got bit by the VIP bug. But then again, being a friend of a VIP styling specialist does have its advantage, as the whole project of modifying his ride was given the Midas touch by Marco himself, whereby it was treated as his very own vehicle. Everything was well thought out, from the exterior bodykit/paint work, interior, and even the sound system and its enclosures.
As with most VIP styled vehicle, the 1.8-litre supercharged petrol engine with a capability of producing an estimated 181bhp was left untouched. Full attention was focused onto the body styling, interior revamping and sound system.
