In America, the use of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) for modification or as a platform for a full blown audio system installation is a popular trend. The huge cargo area is a bonus for the latter as it could accommodate a lot of audio components and positioning of the speakers according to your preference is made all the easier. SUV like the Hummer is one of the best examples when size comes into play. Apart from its size, the Hummer is a premium SUV with excellent NVH (noise, vibration & harshness) properties.

SUV usually come in two platforms, a monocoque or ladder frame chassis. Both have different driving characteristics and are designed for different purpose. The first is designed for a relaxed and comfortable city driving, while the latter for tough off-road driving.
